DIY Video: Porsche 915 Shift Coupler Brass Bushings Upgrade
If you are still on the never-ending search for a crisper 915 shifter, here is a cost effective option to try before you shell out big bucks on other accessories.
Now that you know how to adjust your shift coupler properly, here is a video showing you a real-time bushing replacement in my garage. Not only do I replace the bushings but I upgrade to very precise brass units, shim out the excessive play, and take the 911 for a test spin.
The only downside is that your coupler adjustment and clutch cable adjustments have to be on the money, but for me that is a fair trade-off. Spirited 2-3 upshifts used to be a a little scary and now they are much more confidence inspiring. The biggest benefit for me was easily getting into gear in stop-and-go traffic on my way to and from my favorite twisty roads. Your results may vary but for less than $40 I would say its worth a shot!
