The old air-cooled Porsche 911 has a bunch of different sizes of copper sealing rings. Buy them in bulk!

Welcome to Quick Tips, where I will share tool or parts tips that have saved me time, money, and often, headaches. I will only share tips on tools or parts that I use myself.
I can’t remember how many different sizes of copper sealing rings are on the 911 engine, but it’s quite a few. Personally its difficult for me to keep track of all the different sizes, my inventory, and then go order individual ones from your favorite parts supplier.
One way around this is to order them in bulk. Now, you can simply order a big quantity of each from your favorite industrial hardware supplier, but again that takes research, organization, and time to do. If you want to skip that or need sealing rings asap, you can quickly order an inexpensive bulk multi-pack of metric ones from Amazon, like this one that I use.
It contains a number of the most common metric sizes and covers everything from the tiny hydraulic tensioner lines, the various case sensors, and the oil drain plugs. I may have had to buy a separate bag of the numerous tiny CIS fuel distributor fuel line sealing rings, but unless you are rebuilding your CIS, I expect this is not an issue for most of you.
As an added bonus, you can use them for wrenching on any other car you have that uses metric hardware. I just changed all the fluids on my Tacoma and popped open the box to find the correct oil drain plug, gearbox, and differential drail/fill plug sealing rings. One less trip to the auto parts store.
Here is another that only contains the oil drain plug sealing rings.
Hope this helps!
