To bookend my previous front suspension rebuild series, here is another video series covering the rear suspension. These 5 videos cover the complete process from start to finish, all my screw ups, and some lessons learned.
Part 1: Teardown
Removing the brakes, axles, and trailing arms.
Part 2: Remaining Teardown
Removing the spring plates and torsion bars.
Part 3: Torsion Springs + Spring Plates Install
Installing Elephant Racing polybronze bushings, hollow torsion bars, and adjustable spring plates.
Part 4: Trailing Arms, Hubs, and Parking Brakes Install
Installing rear trailing arms, wheel hubs, and rebuilding the parking brake assemblies.
Part 5: Brakes, Axles, and Rear Shocks
Putting the rear brakes, axle shafts, and rear shocks back on.
As usual, I did make some aftermarket upgrades (polybronze and poly bushings, hollow torsion bars, adjustable spring plates, adjustable Koni shocks), but the rebuild steps are nearly the same for a 100% stock rebuild. I wont be covering my suspension alignment until I have it dialed in and can speak to the process effectively.
I hope this series takes some of the fear out of rebuilding your suspension. It’s a ton of work, but you can do it!
