Porsche 911 Engine First Startup & Break-in
My little engine takes its first breath.
There isn’t much to say except that here is a video that summarizes the whole 20-minute cam break-in event. I had a few gearhead buddies over to share the experience and be extra eyes and ears while I monitored the running engine. Overall things went well!
I will point out that I had an unknown vacuum leak show up that complicated things a little at the beginning but a quick mixture adjustment and the break-in was able to proceed. I’ll cover this in greater detail in a future post.
Next I will cover the detailed set up and tuning of my CIS but I need to take some time to organize it and set it up as correctly as possible. This will be my last post of 2020.
As was since the beginning, this blog’s mission is to document the journey of my own 911 build but also provide some helpful reference material for the DIY’er who is trying to make heads or tails of their own 911 at home. As I work through the CIS material to try and make it easy to understand, my posts may be a little less frequent in the short term. However do not worry, there is so much more to cover! Thank you for being a part of this journey so far and here’s to a better 2021 for everyone!
